Our Method
Recovery is about more than stopping drugs or alcohol.
At Sanáhra, our approach is based on a simple principle: addiction affects the whole person, so recovery must involve the whole person too.
We bring together psychological therapy, medical support, physical wellness, healthy routines, family involvement, recovery community and holistic practices to address not only the addiction, but the person behind it.
Our goal isn't simply to help you become sober while you're here. It's to help you build the tools, habits, relationships and sense of purpose needed to create a life where long-term recovery can thrive.

TREATMENT BUILT AROUND YOU
There is no single formula for recovery.
Two people can struggle with the same substance and need completely different things to recover.
That's why your treatment at Sanáhra begins with understanding you - your history, physical and emotional health, previous treatment experiences, family relationships, relapse patterns, strengths, challenges, interests and goals.
From there, our multidisciplinary team develops and adapts your treatment plan as you progress.
Because Sanáhra is intentionally a small residential community, our team can know you as an individual, observe what's working and adjust your support when your needs change during your recovery.
We don't fit the person into the treatment, we build the treatment around the person.
Our Whole Person Approach

Psychological Therapy
Individual and group therapy helps you better understand the thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships and experiences connected to addiction.
Depending on your individual needs, this may include cognitive and mindfulness-based approaches, emotional regulation, coping strategies, relapse prevention and family therapy.
Medical & Psychiatric Support
Medical care is integrated when needed, particularly during stabilization and detoxification.
Medical and psychiatric evaluation and medication management can also be incorporated when clinically appropriate, providing professional support for both physical and mental wellbeing.

12-Step Recovery & Community
AA and NA principles and meetings form part of the Sanáhra recovery experience.
Beyond providing support during treatment, they introduce clients to an established recovery community they can continue accessing long after leaving Sanáhra.
Physical Health & Fitness
Recovery also means reconnecting with your body.
Exercise, functional fitness, healthy nutrition, restorative sleep and structured daily routines help rebuild physical wellbeing while developing discipline, confidence and healthier habits.

Family Healing
Addiction rarely affects one person alone.
Family therapy and involvement can help loved ones better understand addiction, recognise unhealthy patterns and codependency, rebuild relationships and develop healthier ways of supporting recovery.
Mindfulness, Spirituality & Holistic Wellness
Meditation, mindfulness, spirituality, personal development and our traditional Sunday temazcal provide opportunities for reflection, connection and personal renewal.
Supportive wellness services such as deep-tissue massage and, when medically appropriate and supervised, IV hydration and nutrient therapy may also be incorporated alongside evidence-based treatment.

RECOVERY FOR REAL LIFE
Treatment is only the beginning.
Successful recovery needs to continue when you leave Sanáhra and return to everyday life.
Throughout treatment, we help you develop practical coping strategies, healthier routines, accountability and life skills while beginning to explore what you want your life after addiction to look like.
That might mean repairing relationships. Returning to a career. Continuing your education. Becoming physically active. Finding new interests. Helping others. Or discovering an entirely new sense of purpose.
Because removing addiction leaves the space for your life to look completely different.
We want to help you build something worth protecting in its place.
Professional Care.
Personal Understanding.
Sanáhra has built a multidisciplinary medical and psychological team with professional training, certifications and ongoing education in addiction treatment.
But professional expertise is only part of what our team brings.
Several members of our team also understand addiction through lived experience - either through their own recovery or through loving and supporting someone affected by addiction.
That combination allows us to provide professional treatment with something equally important: genuine empathy and understanding.
We know that people often arrive carrying shame, fear, anger or distrust. Our approach is to provide structure and accountability while always treating the person with dignity and without judgment.

YOUR LIFE AFTER SANÁHRA
We aren't preparing you to live in a treatment centre. We're preparing you to live your life.
Our measure of recovery goes beyond abstinence.
We want you to leave Sanáhra with a greater understanding of yourself, healthier ways of coping, stronger relationships, better physical and emotional wellbeing, and a clearer idea of the life you want to create.
Sobriety is where recovery starts.
What you build from there is where life begins again.
